Early Passion and Musical Growth

Faye’s journey with the guitar began at the age of seven in Rugby. Early on, she discovered a love for playing in ensembles, which shaped her musical path. Her involvement with Warwickshire’s Area and County Guitar Ensembles gave her valuable experience collaborating with other musicians. This foundation led her to join the National Youth Guitar Ensemble (NYGE), where she advanced through the Foundation and Camerata groups under the guidance of Mark Ashford and Adam Hickman.

Her dedication and talent earned her a place in the NYGE Fellowship in 2024. This prestigious group allowed her to perform at notable venues such as the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, often premiering new works. These experiences have helped Faye develop a strong stage presence and a deep understanding of contemporary guitar repertoire.

Academic Excellence and Awards

Currently, Faye is pursuing a Master’s degree in Classical Guitar Performance at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. She studies with Mark Ashford, a respected figure in the classical guitar community. During her undergraduate studies at the Conservatoire, Faye won the Early Music Prize twice, an award supported by the Julian Bream Trust. She also achieved a First-class result in her final-year recital, highlighting her technical skill and expressive playing.

Her academic achievements reflect her commitment to both performance and scholarship. Faye’s approach combines rigorous technique with emotional depth, qualities that resonate strongly in her live performances.

Teaching and Sharing Her Passion

Beyond performing and studying, Faye is an active guitar teacher. She enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for the instrument with young musicians, helping them develop their own skills and love for classical guitar. Her teaching style emphasises both technical precision and musical expression, encouraging students to find their unique voice on the guitar.

Her dual role as performer and educator enriches her perspective, allowing her to connect with audiences and students alike.
